SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Margaret Melius, formerly of Waukegan, who passed away on September 7, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Melius was born in Cowdenbeath, Scotland on December 19, 1923; her parents were James and Annie Archibald; she immigrated to the United States in 1926 and lived most of her life in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Melius was a longtime member of the Glen Flora Country Club and an avid bowler; she moved to Lake Worth, Florida in 1987, where she enjoyed golfing and traveling; she returned to Illinois 10 years ago; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Melius was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; her brothers, John and James; and her sister, Isabella; and

WHEREAS, Margaret Melius is survived by her sons, Michael (Rita) Melius, James (Linda) Melius, and Robert (Judith) Melius; her grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Michael Matayosian) Melius, Melissa (Matthew) Lynch, Alison Melius, and Max Melius; and great-granddaughters, Charlotte Melius Lynch and Reese Matayosian-Melius; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Margaret Melius, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Margaret Melius as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
