| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John J. "Luke" Luketich of St. Louis, | 4 | | Missouri, who passed away on October 27, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Luketich was born in Roxana on November 14, | 6 | | 1922 to Mike M. and Dora M. (nee Dugan) Luketich; he attended | 7 | | St. Bernard's Grade School in Wood River and East Alton-Wood | 8 | | River High School; he also attended Saint Louis University; he | 9 | | married Mary Louise Schleeper on November 15, 1965 at St. | 10 | | Bernard Catholic Church; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, John Luketich worked at the Shell Research | 12 | | Laboratory in Roxana, retiring in 1975; he then built and | 13 | | became the owner and operator of St. Catherine's Village Golf | 14 | | Course in Edwardsville from 1973 until retiring in 2006; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, John Luketich was a member of St. Bernard's | 16 | | Catholic Church in Wood River through the 1970s; he then was a | 17 | | member of St. Boniface Parish in Edwardsville until 2006 and | 18 | | then St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he was a member of | 19 | | the Knights of Columbus Council 1143 in Edwardsville and | 20 | | enjoyed tennis, golfing, bowling, and playing pinochle in his | 21 | | younger days; he looked forward to weekend "pilgrimages" with | 22 | | his family to Notre Dame, Indiana, where he enjoyed Notre Dame |

| 1 | | football; he also was a avid Saint Louis University Basketball | 2 | | and Chicago Cubs fan; his greatest joy was being around his | 3 | | family, visiting with his nieces and nephews, and going | 4 | | shopping with his much-loved grandson; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Luketich was preceded in death by his wife, | 6 | | Mary; his parents; his sister, Catherine Luketich; and his | 7 | | brother, Donald Luketich; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, John Luketich is survived by his daughter, Carolyn | 9 | | (Joel) Simansky; his son, Dan Luketich; his grandson, Benjamin | 10 | | Michael Simansky; his sister-in-law, Barbara (nee Shields) | 11 | | Luketich; and many friends; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | John J. "Luke" Luketich, and extend our sincere condolences to | 15 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
