SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Regina Kuehn, who passed away on May 21, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Regina Kuehn was born in Berlin, Germany; she was a 55-year resident of Oak Park; and

WHEREAS, Regina Kuehn and her husband, Heinz, not only endured and survived the final days of the Nazi regime in Berlin and the chaotic aftermath, but managed to pull off their wedding; and

WHEREAS, Regina Kuehn was an expert in Catholic liturgy and church architecture; she was also instrumental in the redesign of Ascension Church following the Second Vatican Council in the mid-1960s and served as a consultant for other area churches; and

WHEREAS, Regina Kuehn was preceded in death by her husband, Heinz Kuehn; a grandson, Marcel Fremont; a great-granddaughter, Ava Lindamood; her parents, Max and Elisabeth Nowak; and a brother, Wolfgang Nowak; and

WHEREAS, Regina Kuehn was the mother of Angelika, Birgitta (Brian MacHaffie), Clement (Elisabeth Angele), Christopher (Lynn Wesley), Veronica (Rick Fremont), and Gloria Harrington (Thomas Lunzer); the grandmother of Ellison Lindamood (Brian), Aaron Kuehn (Orchid), Erica Haczkiewicz, Nathan Fremont (Juliette Mizicko), Sara Kuehn, Stephen Kuehn (Jennifer Kolba), Kate Kuehn, Sophia Angele-Kuehn, and Johanna Angele-Kuehn; and great-grandmother of Christian, Buckminster, Sebastian and Evelyn; she is also survived by her friends, John, Andy, and Lito; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Regina Kuehn; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Regina Kuehn as an expression of our sympathy.
