SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald W. Mergler, who passed away on September 9, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Donald Mergler served his country as a member of the United States Armed Forces during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Donald Mergler retired from the Chicago Fire Department after many years of service with Engine Company 58, having attained the rank of lieutenant; and

WHEREAS, Donald Mergler was the cherished husband of the late Adeline "Janet" Mergler; the devoted father of Donna (Nick) Roseto, Heather Dodge, Heidi (Bob) Rowley, Crystal (Bob) Hofer, Lisa (Alan) Ippolito and the late Star Mergler; the proud grandfather of Brian and Jeff (Cam) Levitan, Tanya (Dave) Kowalewski, Tony (Christina) Dodge, Samantha (Mike) Jacobson, David and Donald Fisher, Rob and Rick Hofer, Megan (Jim) Zerby, Mari (Jason) Kors, Nick, Gina, and Alyssa Ippolito, Wendy (Chris) Missey, and Nick (Mary) Roseto; the fond great-grandfather of Lincoln, London, Hannah, Bella, Zach, Zoe, Justice, Noah, Love, Elijah, Connor, Kaylee, Nicky, Tommy, James, Connor, and Madison; and the dear brother of the late Evelyn (the late George) Burcham, the late Ruland (the late Annabelle), the late Verna Ault, and the late Kathlyn (the late Amos) Conrad; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald W. Mergler; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Mergler as an expression of our sympathy.
