SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Christopher R. Schauer of Woodstock, who passed away on August 10, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer was born on April 27, 1976 in Woodstock; his parents were Gary R. and Sharon E. (nee Madura) Schauer; and

WHEREAS, In his youth, Christopher Schauer was the Poster Child for the Easter Seals; he loved sports, especially basketball and baseball; in high school, he served as the manager for the Woodstock High School State Championship Baseball Team and the Woodstock High School Basketball Team; he went on to manage the men's and women's basketball teams at McHenry County College, where he was recently recognized for his 20 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer was the founder of "Basketball in the Park", a fundraiser for "Give Kids the World Village" in Kissimmee, Florida, for which he raised over $36,000 in the course of 14 years; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer loved interacting with people, especially during the time he spent working for Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida; he was always inspired by the works of Walt Disney and Pat Summitt, head coach emeritus of the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Marge Schauer; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Elizabeth Madura; 2 aunts, Nancy Smith and Diana Madura; and an uncle, James Maxwell; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer is survived by his parents; his sisters, Jacqueline M. (Nathaniel Shanklin) Schauer and Patricia L. (Matthew) Hale; a niece, Grace Hale; a nephew, Jacob Hale; 8 aunts and uncles, Sue (Dave) Koeser, Connie (Mike) Fraser, Tom (Judy) Madura, Mary Maxwell, Tim Madura, Bob (Pam) Madura, Rick (Rose) Madura, and Greg (Angie) Madura; and many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Christopher R. Schauer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Christopher Schauer as an expression of our sympathy.
