SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Megan K. Blenner, who passed away on June 28, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Megan Blenner was born on August 12, 1986 in Hoffman Estates; her parents were Tom and Peggy (nee DeWane) Blenner; and

WHEREAS, Megan Blenner graduated from St. Viator High School in 2004; she was a member of the National Honor Society, the basketball team, and the 2003 IHSA championship soccer team; she subsequently graduated from Carroll University in 2008, where she was an All-Academic and All-Conference player who competed in basketball and soccer and won the Midwest Conference Championship Tournaments in both sports; she also studied at Northwestern University and was working to complete her CPA certification at the time of her passing; and

WHEREAS, Megan Blenner began her career at Zurich North America in the associate program immediately upon graduating college, learning the major areas of insurance in various locations throughout the United States; she most recently served at Zurich as a financial analyst; her various positions at Zurich allowed her to travel the world, which she deeply treasured; and

WHEREAS, Megan Blenner was a member of the Junior League of Chicago, the Illinois CPA Society, and Zurich's Women's Innovation Network; she worked as a volunteer at PAWS in Lincoln Park and other various charities; and

WHEREAS, Megan Blenner enjoyed reading, helping others, and spending time with her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Megan Blenner was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Lois Blenner and Bernard and Arlene DeWane; and

WHEREAS, Megan Blenner is survived by her parents, Tom and Peggy Blenner; 2 sisters, Kelly and Jamie Blenner; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Megan K. Blenner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Megan Blenner as an expression of our sympathy.
