SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald L. Hook of Vernon Hills, who passed away on July 3, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hook graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston in 1974; he was an avid Northwestern football fan, having gone 41 years without missing a home game, and an active member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, "The Wranglers"; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hook served 30 years with the Vernon Hills Lions Club, as Director of the Lions of Illinois Foundation and past-District Governor of Lions District 1F; he was a former Trustee for the Village of Vernon Hills from 1989 to 1997, and a former member of the Cook Memorial Library Board; he was also a member of the Police Pension Board starting in 2002; he was a founding member of St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, and a pitcher for SMV Blue Baseball for over 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hook was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dolores; his step-father, Arlen Wilkerson; and his son, Cory Hook; and

WHEREAS, Donald Hook is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Kathleen (nee Scibor); his daughters, Morgan Diaz, Erin (Nathan) Tidd, and Michelle (Justin) Dewey; his grandchildren, Ayden and Caitlin Diaz and Etta Tidd; his sister-in-law, Michelle (Frank, Jr.) Rybinski; his siblings in faith and friendship, Don and Kathy Steward and Laura Jurey; his niece, Renee Mack; and his nephews, Matt Jurey and Frank Rybinski, III; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald L. Hook, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Hook as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
