SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Louis D. Gilbert of Macomb, who passed
4away on May 22, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was born on June 4, 1938; his
6parents were Leon and Flora Frakes Gilbert; he married Melvina
7Weaver on April 18, 1965; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert served in the United States Navy
9from 1959 to 1965, having served on the USS Essex during the
10Cuban Missile Crisis; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was a self-employed painter since
121974; he also served as a Macomb City Alderman for 12 years,
13having served on the City Council's public transportation and
14public works committees and as the City's representative on
15joint projects undertaken with McDonough County; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was a member of the Macomb American
17Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Macomb Masonic Lodge;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was preceded in death by his
20parents; 5 brothers; and a sister; and

1    WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert is survived by his wife, Melvina; 2
2sons, Lance Gilbert and Lonnie (Wendy) Gilbert; a daughter,
3Angela (Mitch) Lynn; 4 grandchildren, Nick and Drake Gilbert
4and Madison and Camryn Lynn; 3 great-grandchildren, Jace,
5Adalynn, and Talan Gilbert; a brother, Joe Gilbert; and a
6sister, Marilyn Saliares; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
9family and friends, mourn the passing of Louis D. Gilbert; and
10be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Louis Gilbert as an expression of
13our sympathy.
