SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alice Mae McCluggage of Harvard, who
4passed away on May 2, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alice McCluggage was born in St. Louis, Missouri
6on May 1, 1927 to Robert and Emma (nee Wukert) Zulpo; she
7married Robert McCluggage on June 25, 1962 in Chicago; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Alice McCluggage was a dedicated homemaker,
9mother, organic gardner, and homesteader, and she taught
10homesteading classes at McHenry County College in the 1970s and
111980s; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Alice McCluggage was deeply involved in the
13Illinois Association for Retarded Children, the First
14Presbyterian Church of Harvard, and the Harvard Food Pantry;
15she also took great interest in nature and wildlife, planting
16over 100 trees in what had been a cornfield and welcoming deer,
17wild turkey, and fox; the National Wildlife Federation
18designated her property an official wildlife refuge; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Alice McCluggage was preceded in death by her
20parents; husband, Robert; son, Stephen; daughter, Jacqueline;
21and brother, Robert, Jr.; and

1    WHEREAS, Alice McCluggage is survived by her 3 daughters,
2Pamela Sourelis, Dian Sourelis, and Susan Johnson; 3
3grandchildren, Sabin, Brian, and Darrell West; and 2
4great-grandchildren, Breon and Brandon West; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Alice Mae McCluggage, and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Alice McCluggage as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
