SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carol Sue Hamm of Madison, who passed away on April 12, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Carol Hamm was born in Granite City on March 14, 1950 to Charlotte E. (nee Werner) and Joseph W. Nonn; she married John W. Hamm, III on March 23, 1968 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madison; and

WHEREAS, Carol Hamm was the owner and operator of Hamm's Landscaping in Madison and served many years as the President of the Madison School Board; and

WHEREAS, Carol Hamm was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a proud supporter of Democrats United, and had been very active with the Madison Sports Booster Club; she enjoyed motorcycle riding, ziplining, and reading; and

WHEREAS, Carol Hamm was preceded in death by her father, and by a brother, Gerald Nonn; and

WHEREAS, Carol Hamm is survived by her husband of 46 years, John; her mother; her 5 children, John W. (Karen Allison) Hamm IV, Dawn Hamm, Joseph (Sherry) Hamm, Angela (Christopher) Burns, and Beth (William) Wachtel; 8 grandchildren, Alexandra Hamm, John W. Hamm V, Austin Skoklo, Ellie Hamm, Cameron Burns, August Wachtel, Madison Wachtel, and Taylor Burns; 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald Lee (Ava) Hamm and Garry (Diane) Hamm; and other extended family and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Carol Sue Hamm, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carol Hamm as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
