SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clarence E. "Smitty" Smith of Edison Park; and

WHEREAS, Clarence Smith served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, Clarence Smith was a retired 60-plus year member of Machinist's Union Local #48; and

WHEREAS, Clarence Smith was a dedicated volunteer for the New Hope Food Pantry and the Chicago Food Depository; he was also the "Mayor of Onarga", an avid bowler, and a true wood craftsman; and

WHEREAS, Clarence Smith was the beloved husband of 63 years to Barbara Smith (nee Jones); the loving father of Linda (William) Johnson, Gary (Maria) Smith, Glenn (Jennifer) Smith, Penny (John) Kazmier, and Karen Smith; the proud grandfather and great grandfather of many; the dear brother of Helen (Flores) Suarez; and the loving uncle of Christine (Jim) Leggett and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Clarence E. "Smitty" Smith; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Clarence Smith as an expression of our sympathy.
