SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Hattie Lee Jackson, who passed away on
4March 5, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hattie Jackson was born on August 21, 1924 in
6Friars Point, Mississippi; her parents were Oliver Johnson, Sr.
7and Aggie Lee Greer Johnson; she married Deacon Junius Jackson
8on November 8, 1941; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Hattie Jackson began her walk with God at an early
10age when she and her siblings united with St. Luke Missionary
11Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E.N. Jude
12in Jonestown, Mississippi; in 1946, she and her husband moved
13to East Saint Louis and united with Mt. Sinai Missionary
14Baptist Church on Highland Place under the pastorate of the
15late Dr. R.L. White; she was also an integral member of Mt.
16Sinai Baptist Church, where she served in the Deaconess,
17Mother, and Kitchen ministries; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In 1964, Hattie Jackson and her husband opened
19Jackson's Laundromat on Missouri Avenue in East Saint Louis;
20she was also employed at the Obear-Nester Glass Factory for
21over 30 years until her retirement in 1981; and

1    WHEREAS, Hattie Jackson was preceded in death by her
2parents; her 8 siblings; and her brother-in-law, Calvin; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Hattie Jackson is survived by her son, Dennis
4Jackson (Aundrea); her grandchildren, Janae, Dennis II, and
5Payton; her caregiver, Katina Scott; her brother, Robert
6Johnson; her sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson; her first
7cousin, Nettie Greer; and her many nieces, nephews, and
8friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Hattie Lee Jackson;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Hattie Jackson as an expression of
15our sympathy.
