SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who gave their
4lives in service to their communities; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Brian T. Hauk was a dedicated volunteer for 15
6years for the Logan Trivoli Fire Protection District; the
7district encompasses 87 square miles in Peoria County and, at
8one time, State Route 116 was the heaviest traveled 2 lane
9highway in the State; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Brian T. Hauk had only been Assistant Chief for 6
11months when he gave his life in the line of duty on December
1223, 1997 while responding to a fire call; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Brian T. Hauk was honored at the Firefighters
14State Memorial in Springfield in May of 1998 and, in October of
151998, at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in
16Emmitsburg, Maryland; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
19CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Illinois State Route 116
20as it passes through Peoria County from 10300 West Farmington
21Road in Hanna City to 22290 West Farmington Road in Elmwood as

1the Assistant Fire Chief Brian T. Hauk Memorial Highway; and be
2it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
4is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
5State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
6giving notice of the name; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Assistant Fire Chief Brian T. Hauk
9and the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, Ann L.
10Schneider.
