SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/3-699.14 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides for the issuance of St. Ignatius College Prep special license plates for passenger vehicles of the first division, motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds, and motorcycles. Provides that, in addition to the appropriate registration fees, an applicant for the special plates shall be charged a fee of $15 at original issuance and $2 at each renewal. Provides that the additional fees shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Section 3-699.14 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-699.14 new)
7    Sec. 3-699.14. Saint Ignatius College Prep license plate.
8    (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in
9the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may issue
10special registration plates designated as Saint Ignatius
11College Prep license plates. The special plates issued under
12this Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the
13first division, motor vehicles of the second division weighing
14not more than 8,000 pounds, and motorcycles. If the Secretary
15of State issues the special plates for passenger vehicles of
16the first division or motor vehicles of the second division
17weighing not more than 8,000 pounds, then the Secretary of
18State must also make the special plates available for
19motorcycles. Plates issued under this Section shall expire
20according to the multi-year procedure established by Section
213-414.1 of this Code.
22    (b) The design and color of the plates shall be wholly
23within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The Secretary

1of State may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be
2issued as vanity plates or personalized in accordance with
3Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The Secretary of State shall
4prescribe stickers or decals as provided under Section 3-412.
5    (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original
6issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. For
7each registration renewal period, a $2 fee, in addition to the
8appropriate registration fee, shall be charged. The additional
9fees shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special
10License Plate Fund.
