HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene
4Stenson, II of Santa Clarita, California, who passed away on
5March 22, 2014; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II was born in Peoria on July 15,
71943 to Eugene and Geraldine Stenson; he attended Bradley
8University in Peoria and Southern Illinois University in
9Carbondale; he relocated to California in 1967 and married
10Naomi Pryor in 1990; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II retired in 1997 from the Nissan
12Corporation as the first African-American supervisor of Parts
13Distribution from overseas to dealerships throughout the
14United States; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Gino", Eugene Stenson,
16II enjoyed tennis, jazz, history, cooking, sports, fine-arts,
17hosting cookouts, and making floral arrangements; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II was preceded in death by one
19brother, Clyde Douglas Norvell, and by his parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Eugene Stenson, II is survived by his wife of 23

1years, Naomi; his daughters, Felicia Yvonne Stenson and Minci
2Sekou Stenson; his son, Darin Christopher Pryor; his
3granddaughter, Imani Pryor; his brothers, John (Arie) Stenson
4and Caesar Stenson; his sisters, Mary Frances Turner, Yvonne
5(Rudolph) Booth, and Roberta Marshall; his mother-in-law,
6Carrie B. Barley; his 3 sisters-in-law; his 3 brothers-in-law;
7and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Eugene Stenson, II, and extend our
11sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
12and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Eugene Stenson, II as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
