HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Rock Valley College men's basketball team, the Golden Eagles, on winning the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship; and

WHEREAS, The Golden Eagles were nationally ranked for much of the season and claimed their first ever championship with wins over Nassau Community College (NY), Brookdale Community College (NJ), and Caldwell College (NC); and

WHEREAS, The 2013-2014 season saw the Golden Eagles compile a record of 30 wins and 5 losses, the most wins in the men's basketball program's history; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Craig Doty, in his first season as the men's head basketball coach at Rock Valley College in 2012-2013, led his team to its first appearance in the NJCAA tournament in over a decade and only 2nd over all, achieving a 7th place finish; and

WHEREAS, The Golden Eagles are DeSean Miller, LT Davis, Frank Cimino, Tairhe Turner, Darius Brown, Jared Mayes, DeOntray Austin, Keenan Franklin, Brandt Voiles, Jack Harrison, Sam Harrison, and Ben Grygiel; the assistant coaches are Evan Lavery and Steve Goers; the trainer is Shannon Jones; and the managers are Christian Hoeger and Jon Akins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Rock Valley College men's basketball team, the Golden Eagles, on winning the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association national championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles as an expression of our esteem and respect.
