HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Stacey Creasy; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy was born on December 24, 1958; his parents were Lois (Egerton) and Donald Creasy; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy was a well-respected journalist who had served as a reporter and editor of newspapers in Illinois and Indiana, including the Macomb Journal, Indianapolis Star, and South Bend Tribune; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy most recently served as the editor at the Fulton County Democrat, where he worked since March of 2009; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy was respected as one of the finest journalists by the people he covered; he was known to always be fair and accurate and was known to ask the tough questions and hold elected officials accountable for their answers; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy succumbed to a short battle with cancer on February 23, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Creasy is survived by his parents; his brother, Stanley (Renea) Creasy; his sisters, Shelley Belden and Shawnna (James) Schertz; his children, Jeremy (Kathy) Creasy and Alexandria (Nick) Bricker; and his 4 granddaughters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stacey Creasy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Stacey Creasy and the Fulton County Democrat as an expression of our deepest sympathy and esteem for the life and career of Stacey Creasy.
