HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gary Bitler on the occasion of his retirement as Round Lake Beach Police Chief; and

WHEREAS, Chief Gary Bitler joined the Round Lake Beach Police Department on January 8, 1979 when high-tech was a pen, paper, and police radio; and

WHEREAS, Over his 35-year career, Chief Gary Bitler has become the department's most decorated officer and was named Police Officer of the Year in 1988 and 1992; and

WHEREAS, Chief Gary Bitler is credited with saving the life of a fellow officer when his partner was wounded in the line of duty; he has closed numerous cases and saved the lives of 3 people during his career; and

WHEREAS, Chief Gary Bitler is married with 2 children and lives in McHenry County; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Gary Bitler on his retirement as Round Lake Beach Police Chief; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Gary Bitler as an expression of our esteem and respect.
