HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor Tadas Kicielinski for his many
4achievements; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tadas Kicielinski has been an ironworker for more
6than 44 years; as a member of Local No. 392, he has supervised
7many projects as a Foreman, General Foreman, and Project
8Superintendent and has worked as an Apprentice Instructor for 3
9years; he started out as an Executive Board Member before his
10election to the position of Vice-President of the Local; in
111989, he was appointed to serve as a Business Manager, a
12position he was later elected to; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Tadas Kicielinski left the position of Business
14Manager to become the Executive Director of the Southwestern
15Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council, where he
16represented all of the trades and worked diligently to make
17Project Labor Agreements an accepted practice throughout the
18State of Illinois; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tadas Kicielinski has been the recipient of dozens
20of achievement awards, including the Southern Illinois
21University Distinguished Service Award for his efforts in
22establishing apprenticeship programs in East St. Louis and his

1service award for serving on the Ironworkers Labor-Management
2group IMPACT; and
 
3    WHEREAS, In 2001, Tadas Kicielinski was called to
4Washington, D.C. by General President Joseph Hunt to serve as
5the Executive Assistant to the General President and editor of
6"The Ironworker" magazine; in 2007, General President Hunt
7appointed him to serve as a General Vice President of the
8International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental,
9and Reinforcing Iron Workers and assigned him to the St. Louis
10area, where he was elected to serve as President of the Iron
11Workers District Council of St. Louis and Vicinity, whose
12jurisdiction covers 11 locals in 7 states in the Midwest; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Over the years, Tadas Kicielinski has served on
14numerous boards and commissions in Washington D.C., Missouri,
15and Illinois, including the Metropolitan St. Louis Regional
16Commerce and Growth Association, the Leadership Council of
17Southwestern Illinois, the Illinois River Bend Growth
18Association, the St. Clair County Workforce Development Board,
19and many others; he currently serves as a Commissioner for
20METRO and is a member of the Transportation for Illinois
21Coalition and the Illinois AFL-CIO Executive Board; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Tadas Kicielinski and his wife of 47 years, Cindy,
23live in Collinsville; the couple plans on spending many

1enjoyable winter months at their residence in Naples, Florida;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we honor Tadas Kicielinski for his many achievements and wish
6him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Tadas Kicielinski as a symbol of our esteem and
10respect.
