1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Pamela Reilly on
4 receiving the 2014 Teacher of the Year Award from the Illinois
5 State Board of Education; and

6     WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly is a 2nd grade teacher from Woodbury
7 Elementary School in Sandwich Community Unit School District
8 430; and

9     WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly was announced as this year's top
10 educator at the 39th annual "Those Who Excel/Illinois Teacher
11 of the Year" banquet in Normal, and selected from 200 nominees
12 and 11 finalists from around the State of Illinois; and

13     WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly has been a teacher for 12 years, 5
14 of which have been in the Sandwich School District, where she
15 is known for being humble and dedicated and promotes critical
16 thinking for her students and where she even has her students
17 take responsibility for their education by reciting a mantra by
18 asking them "Who's in charge of your learning?", and the
19 students reply, "I am!"; and

20     WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly has been a leader in technology and
21 its use in the classroom as well as her knowledge and use of

1 "Common Core"; and

2     WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly has received a Certificate of
3 Appreciation from Indian Valley Vocational Center for her
4 mentorship of high school students and has been recognized for
5 her work by Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an
6 organization of professional women; and

7     WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly received her Bachelor's Degree in
8 Education from Aurora University, her Master's Degree in
9 Education from National-Louis University, and is a graduate of
10 Somonauk High School; and

11     WHEREAS, Pamela Reilly was born Pam Colclasure and is a
12 mother of 3 boys; therefore, be it

13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15 we commend Pamela Reilly for her selfless service to her
16 students and their families and recognize the impact she is
17 having on the students she instructs; and be it further

18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to Pamela Reilly as a symbol of our respect and
20 esteem.
