HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Teutopolis Junior High School baseball team, the Wooden Shoes, on winning the 2013 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Division 2A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Wooden Shoes are: Ian Addis, Mitch Apke, Adam Bergfeld, Jared Bloemer, Michael Deters, Lucas Drees, Ethyn Dust, Collin Funneman, Jack Goeckner, Josh Hardiek, Lee Hardiek, Jacob Herd, Drew Heuerman, Andy Isley, Cody Jansen, Landon Jansen, Clint Koester, Eric Kremer, Tristen Lowrance, Drew Mette, Trent Myers, Brad Oseland, Derek Ozenkoski, Mitchell Pals, Noah Probst, Tyler Runde, Damon Sabo, Dawson Smith, Alex Thoele, Drew Thoele, Clint Weber, Kennedy Wendt, Braydan Will, Brandt Young, Kendal Zerrusen, and Tyson Zerrusen; and

WHEREAS, The Wooden Shoes are led by Head Coach Kent Niebrugge and Assistant Coaches Alex Ritz and John Bushur; and

WHEREAS, The Wooden Shoes placed second in the State for the IESA Division 2A in 2008 and 2010, and won a State title in 2011; and

WHEREAS, The Wooden Shoes entered the Division 2A IESA State baseball tournament having complied an impressive regular season record of 19 wins and 4 losses; they advanced through the tournament by beating an undefeated team in the quarterfinals and winning by the mercy rule in the semi-finals, all to face another undefeated team in the finals; and

WHEREAS, The championship game took place on October 5th, 2013 and was an offensive battle that resulted in a score of 11 to 8 in favor of the Wooden Shoes; and

WHEREAS, For the second time in 3 years, the Wooden Shoes were declared the IESA Division 2A State baseball champions; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Teutopolis Junior High School baseball team, the Wooden Shoes, on their 2013 State championship and wish them many years of further success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Teutopolis Junior High School Wooden Shoes as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
