HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the congregation of Saint
4Pascal Parish on the occasion of the Parish's 100th
5anniversary; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish has served the Chicago
7communities of Dunning and Portage Park in many valuable
8capacities throughout the last 100 years; since the first
9Sunday Mass was offered on September 20, 1914, Saint Pascal
10Parish has been a center of life and culture on Chicago's
11Northwest Side; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish is the home of the Archbishop
13of Chicago, Francis Cardinal George; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish's remarkable architecture is
15colloquially known as the "Silent Shrine of Spanish Art" and
16serves as a major attraction on Irving Park Road; built largely
17by out-of-work parishioners during the Great Depression, this
18local landmark is a visible testament to the piety and
19dedication of the Catholic community that calls Saint Pascal
20Parish home; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish has established itself in the

1hearts of the Dunning and Portage Park communities, bringing
2many generations inspiration, guidance, and leadership through
3their unwavering faith and great compassion; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate the congregation of Saint Pascal Parish on the
7occasion of the Parish's 100th anniversary and wish them
8continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the congregation of Saint Pascal Parish as a
12symbol of our esteem and respect.
