HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the congregation of Saint Pascal Parish on the occasion of the Parish's 100th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish has served the Chicago communities of Dunning and Portage Park in many valuable capacities throughout the last 100 years; since the first Sunday Mass was offered on September 20, 1914, Saint Pascal Parish has been a center of life and culture on Chicago's Northwest Side; and

WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish is the home of the Archbishop of Chicago, Francis Cardinal George; and

WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish's remarkable architecture is colloquially known as the "Silent Shrine of Spanish Art" and serves as a major attraction on Irving Park Road; built largely by out-of-work parishioners during the Great Depression, this local landmark is a visible testament to the piety and dedication of the Catholic community that calls Saint Pascal Parish home; and

WHEREAS, Saint Pascal Parish has established itself in the hearts of the Dunning and Portage Park communities, bringing many generations inspiration, guidance, and leadership through their unwavering faith and great compassion; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregation of Saint Pascal Parish on the occasion of the Parish's 100th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the congregation of Saint Pascal Parish as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
