HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Donald L. Alford, Sr. on the occasion of his 30th anniversary as Senior Pastor of Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral in Hillside; and

WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. was born and raised in Maywood; his parents are the late Dr. James Benjamin Alford, Sr. and Minnie Alford; and

WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. is a lifelong member of the Progressive Church of God in Christ; his passion for the things of God began to manifest first in the music ministry, where his great music ability in the areas of traditional gospel music and praise and worship caused him to be recognized throughout the nation; and

WHEREAS, After the passing of his father in 1983, Donald Alford, Sr. was appointed Pastor of Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral in Hillside; in June of 1995, he was ordained as an Apostle (Spiritual Overseer) at the church; he has subsequently served as Senior Pastor of Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral, where he has provided his congregation with spiritual guidance for the last 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. and his wife are the CEOs of Don-Glo Music and have written and produced several projects under this endeavor, including the platinum single, "All I Wanna Do Is Bless Your Name"; he has also written and produced many hits, including "Thank You" performed by the Thompson Community Singers, "Things Are Gonna Get Better" performed by Pastor Shirley Caesar, and "I Know What Prayer Can Do" performed by Dr. Ricky Dillard and Choir; and

WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. is the author of "Don't Tell Me It's Too Late", a book of his struggles, disappointments, and victories; and

WHEREAS, Donald Alford, Sr. and his loving wife of 33 years, Gloria Windom-Alford, are the parents of 4 children, Donald II (Rasheeda), Stephon, Terrell, and Brianna, and the proud grandparents of 4 grandchildren, Dajia, Donald III, DeVaughn, and Jayla; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Donald L. Alford, Sr. on the occasion of his his 30th anniversary as Senior Pastor of Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Donald Alford, Sr. as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
