HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Evelyn Brandt Thomas on the occasion of her 90th birthday on August 25, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas and her brother, Glen Brandt, set in motion the framework of Brandt Consolidated, Inc. in Pleasant Plains, a company now consisting of more than 300 employees, with operations spread across the United States and 45 countries around the world; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas threw the first pitch at the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs game on August 11, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas is recognized and honored for her leadership in the funding and construction of the Simmons Cancer Institute at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas was the recipient of the 2012 Small Business Person of the Year Lifetime Award from the Springfield Chamber of Commerce; she was named the Outstanding Woman in Agribusiness by Illinois Agri-Women and was recognized as a leader in the Illinois Women in Business Association; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Brandt Thomas has also been recognized for her altruistic and philanthropic activities and her many scholarship awards to numerous worthy and grateful recipients; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Evelyn Brandt Thomas on the occasion of her 90th birthday and wish her many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Evelyn Brandt Thomas as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
