HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the tragic death of one of its own citizens who dedicated their life to serving this great country; and

WHEREAS, United States Marine Corps Corporal Brandon David Meyers of Plainfield passed away on June 28, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Cpl. Brandon Meyers, known to his loved ones as "Bubba", graduated from Plainfield Central High School in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Cpl. Brandon Meyers enlisted in the United States Marine Corps right after graduating from high school; after completing basic training, he served the country he loved by completing two tours in Iraq; and

WHEREAS, When Cpl. Brandon Meyers returned home in November of 2010, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spent countless hours working on cars with his father; he was also restoring his 1968 Chevelle; and

WHEREAS, Cpl. Brandon Meyers is survived by his devoted parents, David and Wendy Meyers; his loving sister, Tiffany Meyers; his grandparents, George and Shirley Ketchmark; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and

WHEREAS, Cpl. Brandon Meyers was a true friend and a man that was proud of who he was, who he became, and of the years he spent serving his country; and

WHEREAS, Cpl. Brandon Meyers' patriotism and courage will be remembered by his loving family, his friends, and the citizens of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of United States Marine Corps Corporal Brandon D. Meyers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Cpl. Brandon Meyers as an expression of our sincere sympathy.
