HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to recognize Bettie Marie
4Kirschner of Streamwood for her service during World War II;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bettie Kirschner was born on May 17, 1924, in
7Grand Rapids, Michigan, to William and Ottlie Roubinek; she
8enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 31, 1944, and served as a
9Pharmacist's Mate Third Class (PhM3c) until October 18, 1945,
10in San Diego, California; she took care of the wounded being
11brought back from the Pacific Theater; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bettie Kirschner is very proud of her service to
13her country during World War II and proudly flies the flag
14regularly; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bettie Kirschner was married to a U.S. Army
16veteran, Richard, who she wed in 1946; they had 2 children,
17Lynn (Larry) Hutton and Glen (Pam) Kirschner, 5 grandchildren,
18and 4 great-grandchildren; she has resided in Streamwood for
19the last 30 years; she worked for Marshall Fields in downtown
20Chicago for many years and enjoys spending her vacations in
21Minnesota; and

1    WHEREAS, Bettie Kirschner will be honored at an Honor Roll
2presentation at Hanover Township on July 2, 2013; therefore, be
3it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we recognize Bettie Kirschner and thank her for her service to
7her country during World War II; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Bettie Kirschner as an expression of our esteem
10and respect.
