HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate David C. Bryant on the occasion of achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, David Bryant resides in Grayslake and recently graduated from Grayslake Central High School in Grayslake; he plans to attend Indiana University, where he will major in theatre as well as a possible double major in psychology or education; he hopes that he will be able to join a theatre company and perform for a living; and

WHEREAS, In addition to Scouting, David Bryant was a part of the theatre club and in every show in high school; he was part of the National Honors Society, played the clarinet in Honors Band, and sang in some of the choirs in school; outside of high school, he helped create the youth group for his church and played club soccer for many years; and

WHEREAS, David Bryant joined the Cub Scouts upon entering the 1st grade and earned the highest rank in Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Life, in February of 2006; he joined Boy Scout Troop 96 on February 24, 2006 and advanced to the ranks of Scout in April 10, 2006, Tenderfoot on August 21 2006, Second Class on August 28, 2006, and First Class on February 26, 2007; after reaching the rank of Star Scout on January 5, 2009, he continued his journey by earning the rank of Life Scout on August 30, 2010; and

WHEREAS, As a Life Scout, David Bryant started his Eagle Project, creating 4 picnic tables for his High School Stadium area, in the fall of 2012, and completed the final steps in the spring of 2013; to complete his project, he began fundraising by starting a rummage sale with the Band Boosters of his high school, who, in return, donated money to the project; he then built 4 octagonal picnic tables that are placed by the football field for student and community use; and

WHEREAS, David Bryant has earned 24 Merit Badges, with 12 specifically required to become Eagle Scout, and completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review on May 8, 2013; he has held numerous leadership positions in Scouting over the past 7 years, including Troop Librarian, Assistant Patrol Leader, Instructor, and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader; and

WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout will be bestowed upon David Bryant by the Boy Scouts of America at a Court of Honor ceremony; and

WHEREAS, David Bryant serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate David C. Bryant on the occasion of achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to David Bryant as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
