HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jean
4Louise (nee Carpenter) Mooring of Glen Ellyn, who passed away
5on February 4, 2013; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jean Mooring was born on April 2, 1926, in
7Madison, Wisconsin; she received a bachelors degree from
8Wellesley College in 1947 and for a time afterwards, attended
9the University of Wisconsin; she married Paul Mooring in 1948
10and they moved to the Chicago area in 1951; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jean Mooring was a lifelong environmentalist; she
12dedicated numerous hours to the building and maintenance of the
13Illinois Prairie Path, a 61-mile pedestrian and bike trail, and
14worked on it for 48 of its 50 year history; she was the editor
15of the Illinois Prairie Path newsletter for 16 years and served
16on the group's board of directors for 32 years; in 1988,
17Prairie Path volunteers received a national Take Pride in
18America Award, accepted by Jean & Paul Mooring at a White House
19ceremony; she did much to make Glen Ellyn and the DuPage County
20area a far better place to live and enjoy life; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jean Mooring was a longtime member of the
22Conservation Foundation, a non-profit group that protects open

1space in DuPage, Will, Kendall, and Kane Counties; she had been
2a member of the DuPage County Environmental Commission since
31991; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jean Mooring was preceded in death by her sister,
5Barbara Rettgen; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jean Mooring is survived by her husband of 64
7years, Paul; her daughters, Cecily Mooring, Carol (John)
8Larson, and Margaret (Robert Foster) Mooring; her
9grandchildren, Elizabeth Lee, Paul Hamm, Morgan Hamm, Kelinda
10Larson, and Benjamin Larson; and her great-grandchildren,
11Adelynn Lee and Nathan Lee; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of Jean Mooring, and extend our sincere
15condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jean Mooring as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
