HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jerome John "Jerry" Reding of Aurora, who passed away on March 19, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Jerome Reding was born on April 10, 1925, in Aurora to Joseph and Margaret Reding; he attended St. Theresa Grade School and was a graduate of Marmion Military Academy; he served his country during World War II as a Navy Seabee; and

WHEREAS, Jerome Reding worked as an electrician for the Burlington Northern Railroad and the IBEW Local 461; and

WHEREAS, Jerome Reding was a life member of 67 years and once commander of the Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 and one of the founders of the American Legion Post 84 Band, playing the alto saxophone; he served as commander of the American Legion Band Color Guard; and

WHEREAS, Jerome Reding enjoyed playing football for the Aurora Clipper semi-pro team and attending local sporting events; he was a member of St. Rita Cascia Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Moose, the VFW, AMVETS, and the Fox Valley Veterans Retiree Breakfast Club; and

WHEREAS, Jerome Reding was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Andrea Yvonne Saltijeral; his parents; his sisters, Catherine Kramer and Annette Richmond; and his nephew, Glenn Richmond; and

WHEREAS, Jerome Reding is survived by his daughter, Shelly (Frank) Saltijeral; his grandchildren, Clayton (Cherri) Saltijeral and Kyle (Sarah) Saltijeral; his great-grandchildren, Chloe, Beckett, Peyton, and Andrew; his nephews, Greg Kramer and Larry Richmond; his nieces, Cindy White and Charlene Pietrobon; and the family of Francisco and Apolonia Saltijeral; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jerome Reding, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerome Reding as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
