HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to recognize Barbara L. Krueger, MD
4as she is honored by The Gala Committee of Advocate Christ
5Medical Center and Advocate Children's Hospital as the
6Outstanding Physician Leader Honoree; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger was born in Syracuse, New York, on
8August 31, 1954; she lived in 9 states throughout her formative
9years and graduated from Peachtree High School in Atlanta,
10Georgia; she attended the University of Georgia and Georgia
11State University, graduating with a bachelors of science in
12Allied Health Sciences/Respiratory Therapy; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Following graduation, she worked at Piedmont
14Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, as a staff respiratory therapist,
15supervisor; in 1980, she became Director of Respiratory
16Therapy; in 1984, she entered Emory University School of
17Medicine, graduating in 1988; she began her surgical residency
18at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago;
19after completing her residency in 1993, she joined the
20partnership of Hopkins, Mesleh, and Hopkins at Christ Medical
21Center; and
 
22    WHEREAS, In 1996, Barbara Krueger's medical practice

1became exclusively focused on breast cancer evaluation and
2treatment; she began a weekly Interdisciplinary Breast
3Conference in 1998 and went on to develop "Breast Center
4Without Walls" to improve the quality, access, and efficiency
5of care for breast cancer patients; in 2010, she began a weekly
6Multidisciplinary Breast Oncology Clinic on Fridays to
7evaluate newly diagnosed breast cancer cases and to form a plan
8for treatment best suited to each individual; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger was appointed Medical Director of
10the Breast Cancer Program at Advocate Christ Medical Center in
112011, a position she holds to this day; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger will be honored at Salute 2013: Oh
13What Night! on April 27, 2013, at The Field Museum in Chicago;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we recognize Barbara Krueger as she is honored by The Gala
18Committee of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate
19Children's Hospital as the Outstanding Physician Leader
20Honoree; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to Barbara Krueger as an expression of our esteem and
