HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Barbara L. Krueger, MD as she is honored by The Gala Committee of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Children's Hospital as the Outstanding Physician Leader Honoree; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger was born in Syracuse, New York, on August 31, 1954; she lived in 9 states throughout her formative years and graduated from Peachtree High School in Atlanta, Georgia; she attended the University of Georgia and Georgia State University, graduating with a bachelors of science in Allied Health Sciences/Respiratory Therapy; and

WHEREAS, Following graduation, she worked at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, as a staff respiratory therapist, supervisor; in 1980, she became Director of Respiratory Therapy; in 1984, she entered Emory University School of Medicine, graduating in 1988; she began her surgical residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago; after completing her residency in 1993, she joined the partnership of Hopkins, Mesleh, and Hopkins at Christ Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, In 1996, Barbara Krueger's medical practice became exclusively focused on breast cancer evaluation and treatment; she began a weekly Interdisciplinary Breast Conference in 1998 and went on to develop "Breast Center Without Walls" to improve the quality, access, and efficiency of care for breast cancer patients; in 2010, she began a weekly Multidisciplinary Breast Oncology Clinic on Fridays to evaluate newly diagnosed breast cancer cases and to form a plan for treatment best suited to each individual; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger was appointed Medical Director of the Breast Cancer Program at Advocate Christ Medical Center in 2011, a position she holds to this day; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Krueger will be honored at Salute 2013: Oh What Night! on April 27, 2013, at The Field Museum in Chicago; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Barbara Krueger as she is honored by The Gala Committee of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Children's Hospital as the Outstanding Physician Leader Honoree; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Barbara Krueger as an expression of our esteem and respect.
