HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the owners and employees of Gale Street Inn in Chicago on the occasion of the restaurant's 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Gale Street Inn was established in 1963 by George and Joan Chioles in a small tavern across the street from its current location; the tavern originally served sandwiches until Louie Artis, a Gale Street cook, told the Chioles that he had a great recipe for baby back ribs; Gale Street Inn has been famous for its ribs ever since; and

WHEREAS, In 1968, the Chioles were forced to relocate across the street due to the construction of the Jefferson Park Transit Center; in 1985, the Chioles sold the Gale Street Inn to Harry Karzas, the father of its current owner, George Karzas; and

WHEREAS, The Gale Street Inn welcomes patrons from throughout the City of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs with its fantastic ribs, live music, and bar; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the owners and employees of Gale Street Inn on the occasion of the tavern's 50th anniversary and thank for their many years of dedicated service to the people of the City of Chicago; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to George Karzas as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
