HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to recognize the Joliet Area
4Community Hospice on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice is a
6not-for-profit hospice established in 1982 under the tutelage
7of Rosemary Bowe, the first executive director; it has served
8over 21,000 terminally-ill persons, their loved ones, and
9caregivers with dignity in the counties of Will, Grundy, and
10Kendall along with parts of Cook, DuPage, and Kankakee; and
 
11    WHEREAS, 1986 saw the Joliet Area Community Hospice receive
12full licensing from the State of Illinois Department of Public
13Health and Mary Jo Smith named the second executive director;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Duane Krieger became the Joliet Area Community
16Hospice's third executive director in 1992; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice opened the first
18free-standing hospice home in the State of Illinois on May 4,
192004; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice has an

1established pediatric program dedicated to serving infants,
2children, and their families; it has a Pride, Honor, and
3Dignity Veterans Hospice program; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Joliet Area Community Hospice receives
5financial support from the United Way of Will County, the
6United Way of Grundy County, and thousands of individuals,
7business owners, and social and civic organizations; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The current CEO of the Joliet Area Community
9Hospice, Rick Kasper, took over in 2009; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we recognize the Joliet Area Community Hospice on the 30th
13anniversary of its founding and thank the administrators and
14employees past and present for the compassionate and valuable
15services they provide; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the Joliet Area Community Hospice as an expression
18of our esteem and respect.
