HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are proud to honor those who make worthwhile
4contributions to their communities; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi was appointed to the Hoffman
6Estates Cultural Awareness Commission on March 22, 1993, and
7continues to serve as an active member of the Commission today;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi graduated with Class 6 of the
10Citizens Police Academy in the spring of 2002; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi has been an outstanding volunteer
12with the Hoffman Estates Citizens Police Academy Alumni
13Association for many years; she has volunteered for multiple
14events, including the association's fishing derby,
15adjudication hearings, Shop with a Cop, and various ILEETA
16events; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi's length of service and her
18positive attitude toward all of the commission's activities,
19such as the MLK Jr. Breakfast Celebration, Unity Day, Hispanic
20Heritage Day Fiesta, and others, are a testament to her great
21dedication to this worthy cause; and

1    WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi's service to the Cultural
2Awareness Commission and the Village of Hoffman Estates'
3citizens is best described in a quote from Martin Luther King,
4Jr.: "All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and
5importance and should be undertaken with painstaking
6excellence"; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi and her loving husband, Morimasa,
8have 2 children; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi's many years of dedicated service
10on the Cultural Awareness Commission and in other volunteer
11capacities makes her worthy of the greatest respect; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we honor Joyce Horiuchi for her many contributions to her
16community and wish her continued success in the future; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Joyce Horiuchi as a symbol of our respect and
20esteem.
