HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor our friend and colleague,
4Illinois State Representative Jil Tracy, for her many years of
5dedicated service to the people of the State of Illinois; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative Tracy is a loving wife to her
7husband Jim Tracy and a mother to 4 beautiful children, Rob,
8Ben, Mark, and Kelsey Tracy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Representative Tracy received her undergraduate
10degree from Southern Illinois University and graduated from the
11Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1979; she
12practiced law in the Mt. Sterling area for 17 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Representative Tracy was a founding Board Member
14of the Brown County United Way and served on the Mt. Sterling
15Park District Board; she also served on the John Wood Community
16College Foundation Board, the Make-A-Wish Regional Council,
17and the Quincy Branch Alzheimer Association Advisory Board; she
18helped found and build the Joel Oliver Memorial Pool, and was a
19founding Board Member of the Tracy Family Foundation; she also
20helped develop the Mt. Sterling Community Center and the YMCA;
21and

1    WHEREAS, Representative Tracy was appointed by Attorney
2General Jim Ryan in 1997 to serve as an Illinois Assistant
3Attorney General and the Director of the Attorney General's
4West Central Regional Office; she continued in that office
5under Attorney General Lisa Madigan until 2004; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative Tracy was appointed in 2006 to
7serve the remainder of former Rep. Art Tenhouse's term, and she
8was re-elected in the 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012 general
9elections; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Representative Tracy is one of the 6 members of
11the Legislative Ethics Commission, and she was one of the 21
12House members selected to serve on the Investigative
13Impeachment Committee that found reason to impeach Governor Rod
14Blagojevich in December of 2008; she is the outgoing Co-Chair
15of the Illinois Conference of Women Legislators; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Representative Tracy has received many awards and
17recognition for her hard work and dedicated service throughout
18her legislative career including the 2013 Women of Influence
19Award, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Award, the American Red
20Cross Award, the Legislative Achievement Award in 2011, the
21Illinois Farm Bureau Activator Friend of Agriculture Award in
222008 and 2010, the YMCA 2011 Legislative Hero Award, the
23Honorary Cooperator Award of the Soil and Water Conservation

1District for Adams, Brown, Cass, Hancock, Pike, Schuyler, and
2Scott Counties; she was a 3-time recipient of the Legislator of
3the year Award, a 2-time recipient of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm
4System Award, and twice received the Champion of Freedom Award;
5she was recognized by Ducks Unlimited, the Mississippi Valley
6Hunters and Fisherman Association, the Life Services Network,
7the Village of Payson, the Orr Research Center, John Wood
8Community College, and the Cathedral of Worship; she was
9selected as the Illinois Bankers Association 2012 Outstanding
10Legislator of the Year and the Illinois Optometric Association
11Legislator of the year in 2008; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate our friend and colleague, State Representative
15Jil Tracy, on her retirement from the Illinois of House of
16Representatives and wish her the best in her future endeavors;
17and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Representative Jil Tracy as a symbol of our
20respect and esteem.
