HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor our friend and colleague, Illinois State Representative Jil Tracy, for her many years of dedicated service to the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Representative Tracy is a loving wife to her husband Jim Tracy and a mother to 4 beautiful children, Rob, Ben, Mark, and Kelsey Tracy; and

WHEREAS, Representative Tracy received her undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University and graduated from the Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1979; she practiced law in the Mt. Sterling area for 17 years; and

WHEREAS, Representative Tracy was a founding Board Member of the Brown County United Way and served on the Mt. Sterling Park District Board; she also served on the John Wood Community College Foundation Board, the Make-A-Wish Regional Council, and the Quincy Branch Alzheimer Association Advisory Board; she helped found and build the Joel Oliver Memorial Pool, and was a founding Board Member of the Tracy Family Foundation; she also helped develop the Mt. Sterling Community Center and the YMCA; and

WHEREAS, Representative Tracy was appointed by Attorney General Jim Ryan in 1997 to serve as an Illinois Assistant Attorney General and the Director of the Attorney General's West Central Regional Office; she continued in that office under Attorney General Lisa Madigan until 2004; and

WHEREAS, Representative Tracy was appointed in 2006 to serve the remainder of former Rep. Art Tenhouse's term, and she was re-elected in the 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012 general elections; and

WHEREAS, Representative Tracy is one of the 6 members of the Legislative Ethics Commission, and she was one of the 21 House members selected to serve on the Investigative Impeachment Committee that found reason to impeach Governor Rod Blagojevich in December of 2008; she is the outgoing Co-Chair of the Illinois Conference of Women Legislators; and

WHEREAS, Representative Tracy has received many awards and recognition for her hard work and dedicated service throughout her legislative career including the 2013 Women of Influence Award, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Award, the American Red Cross Award, the Legislative Achievement Award in 2011, the Illinois Farm Bureau Activator Friend of Agriculture Award in 2008 and 2010, the YMCA 2011 Legislative Hero Award, the Honorary Cooperator Award of the Soil and Water Conservation District for Adams, Brown, Cass, Hancock, Pike, Schuyler, and Scott Counties; she was a 3-time recipient of the Legislator of the year Award, a 2-time recipient of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Award, and twice received the Champion of Freedom Award; she was recognized by Ducks Unlimited, the Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fisherman Association, the Life Services Network, the Village of Payson, the Orr Research Center, John Wood Community College, and the Cathedral of Worship; she was selected as the Illinois Bankers Association 2012 Outstanding Legislator of the Year and the Illinois Optometric Association Legislator of the year in 2008; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate our friend and colleague, State Representative Jil Tracy, on her retirement from the Illinois of House of Representatives and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Jil Tracy as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
