HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Dirk Rosenberg on receiving the "2014 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from the Illinois Rural Health Association; and

WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural settings; and

WHEREAS, In 1978, Dr. Rosenberg earned his medical degree from the University of the Guadalajara and completed additional clinical training at the University of Illinois at Peoria School of Medicine in 1979; and

WHEREAS, In 1981, Dr. Rosenberg completed his residency in general surgery at Saint Francis Medical Center and completed a second residency in general surgery in 1983 at the Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rosenberg began his career at Richland Memorial Hospital in 1983; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rosenberg has held fellow status in the American College of Emergency Physicians since 1992 and is Board certified in Emergency Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Since 1998, working with Southern Illinois University's Physician Assistant Program, Dr. Rosenberg served as the Clinical Hub Medical Supervisor, and in 2001, 2010, and 2013, was voted "Preceptor of the Year" for his leadership and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Rosenberg's commitment to always raising the bar for patient services in the community is evident in his years of service on a variety of Richland Memorial Hospital's committees including ER, Emergency Preparedness, Pharmacy & Therapeutics, and Infection Control; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Dirk Rosenberg on receiving the "2014 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" and commend him for the over 30 years of self-less service that he has provided his community and the impact he has made on improving rural health; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Rosenberg as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
