HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Adam Munds for receiving the "2014 Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; and

WHEREAS, On October 31, 2000, Adam Munds was born premature with an extremely low platelet count and relied greatly on donations from volunteer blood donors, which allowed him to grow into a healthy child; and

WHEREAS, As Adam Munds grew older he developed a passion to help others as he had been helped through blood donation; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, Adam Munds organized his first Radio Control Car (RC) Fest in Tolono and donated the proceeds to his local blood center, and, in 2012, he added a blood drive in conjunction with the event; and

WHEREAS, Adam Munds has made the RC Fest and Blood Drive an annual event which, under his leadership, has grown to include participants from multiple states and has heightened awareness each year on the importance of blood donation; and

WHEREAS, Adam Munds included a blood drive as part of his 13th birthday celebrations; and

WHEREAS, Adams Munds promotes blood donation not only at his event but encourages regular blood donation in his community throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, In 2014, Community Blood Services of Illinois, which in 2011 merged with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, nominated Adam Munds as the "Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator" in a Statewide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Adam Munds on his enthusiasm, selfless service, and commitment to the community, and wish him continued success with his blood drive collection efforts; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Adam Munds as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
