HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to the United Hellenic Voters of America in honor of its 40th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America was founded in 1974 and celebrates 40 years of success this year; and

WHEREAS, This non-partisan civic organization was created to promote citizenship among people of Hellenic descent throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America has encouraged people of Hellenic descent to participate in the governmental process in their local communities; and

WHEREAS, This organization has assisted its membership in exercising their rights, privileges and responsibilities as citizens of the United States; and

WHEREAS, This organization has helped members of the Greek and Greek-Cypriot Community in becoming integrated in U.S. society while preserving their cultural and religious heritage; and

WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America has helped the Greek community obtain higher education, as well as further their involvement in local, state and federal government; and

WHEREAS, The members of this organization have helped to foster growth and preservation of our nation's democracy through civic participation; and

WHEREAS, This organization has provided the Greek-American community numerous services and support; and

WHEREAS, We recognize the hard work and dedication of Dr. Dimitrios Kyriazopoulos, the National Supreme Chairman; Chris Kontos, the National President; and all the members of the United Hellenic Voters of America; and

WHEREAS, We recognize the 40 years of service the United Hellenic Voters of America has provided to the community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we do hereby offer our congratulations to the members of the United Hellenic Voters of America in honor of its 40th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the United Hellenic Voters of America and Dr. Dimitrios Kyriazopoulos.
