HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Addison Mayor Larry
4Hartwig as he retires from public office; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig has served as mayor of Addison
6since April 17, 1995, and will officially step-down on May 2,
72013; he has served in public office for Addison for 26 years,
8serving as village trustee from 1987 until being appointed
9interim mayor in 1995; he was later reelected in 1997, 2001,
102005, and 2009; he and his wife, Sandy, have been residents of
11Addison since 1972; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig was a member of the DuPage
13Water Commission from 2002 to 2010, for which he chaired the
14commission's Administrative Committee from 2004 to 2008; he
15also served as president of the DuPage Mayors and Managers
16Conference from 2004 to 2006, at which he chaired the
17conference's Legislative Committee; he also represented DuPage
18County on the executive board of the Metropolitan Mayors
19Caucus; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig has worked on many development
21initiatives in Addison including the opening of the Elmhurst
22Memorial Addison Health Center in 2012, the redeveloped retail

1sites on Addison's west side, and the completion of the
2Friendship Plaza campus as a home to the Village of Addison,
3the Addison Police Department, the Addison Public Library, and
4the offices of DuPage High School District 88; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig will be honored at a
6retirement dinner on April 21, 2013, at Medinah Shriners
7Banquets in Addison; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Mayor Larry Hartwig on his retirement from
11public office, thank him for his dedication to the community of
12Addison, and wish him well in all his future endeavours; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Mayor Larry Hartwig as an expression of our esteem
16and respect.
