HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Addison Mayor Larry Hartwig as he retires from public office; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig has served as mayor of Addison since April 17, 1995, and will officially step-down on May 2, 2013; he has served in public office for Addison for 26 years, serving as village trustee from 1987 until being appointed interim mayor in 1995; he was later reelected in 1997, 2001, 2005, and 2009; he and his wife, Sandy, have been residents of Addison since 1972; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig was a member of the DuPage Water Commission from 2002 to 2010, for which he chaired the commission's Administrative Committee from 2004 to 2008; he also served as president of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference from 2004 to 2006, at which he chaired the conference's Legislative Committee; he also represented DuPage County on the executive board of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig has worked on many development initiatives in Addison including the opening of the Elmhurst Memorial Addison Health Center in 2012, the redeveloped retail sites on Addison's west side, and the completion of the Friendship Plaza campus as a home to the Village of Addison, the Addison Police Department, the Addison Public Library, and the offices of DuPage High School District 88; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Larry Hartwig will be honored at a retirement dinner on April 21, 2013, at Medinah Shriners Banquets in Addison; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mayor Larry Hartwig on his retirement from public office, thank him for his dedication to the community of Addison, and wish him well in all his future endeavours; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mayor Larry Hartwig as an expression of our esteem and respect.
