HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Capitol of the State of Illinois is located in
3Springfield and the vast majority of policymaking decisions
4concerning the State are conducted in Springfield during
5legislative session; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Executive Mansion is located a few blocks from
7the Capitol building at 410 E. Jackson St. in Springfield; the
8mansion is available for the Governor and his family to use as
9a home while conducting the business of the State of Illinois;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois is facing several ongoing
12problems, including a pension crisis and credit downgrades; a
13lack of consensus and cooperation among key leadership only
14exacerbates these serious issues; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The legislative and executive branches of the
16State of Illinois should be working in tandem to solve the
17seemingly continual crises afflicting the State; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Solutions to the mounting issues affecting the
19State will be established with leadership shown by the Governor
20and the leaders of the General Assembly, driven by their
21commitment to work tirelessly for the citizens of Illinois; and

1    WHEREAS, In order for the Governor to commit the time
2needed to address these problems head on and work with all of
3the leaders of the General Assembly to find solutions, it is
4imperative that the Governor be present in Springfield;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we urge the Governor to maintain residence at the Executive
9Mansion in Springfield during the entirety of the legislative
10session so that he may be available to work alongside leaders
11of the General Assembly in finding solutions to the State's
12problems; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent
14to Governor Pat Quinn.
