Amends the Hearing Instrument Consumer Protection Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the purpose of the Act.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Hearing Instrument Consumer Protection Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:

(Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2016)

Sec. 1. Purpose. The The purpose of this Act is to protect the hearing-impaired public from incompetent and dishonest dispensers of hearing instruments who could endanger the health, safety and welfare of the People of this State. The Federal Food and Drug Administration has recommended that State legislation is necessary in order to establish standards of competency and to impose stringent penalties for those who violate the public trust in this field of health care.
