HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is imperative for the State of Illinois to recognize and honor the dedication, bravery, and sacrifice of individuals who commit themselves to protecting and serving our communities; and

WHEREAS, These heroes, including first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other public safety personnel, place themselves in harm's way to protect lives, maintain order, and provide critical aid in times of need; and

WHEREAS, Their unwavering commitment, courage, and selfless service embodies the highest ideals of duty and sacrifice, earning the deepest respect, esteem, and gratitude of the people of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, It is fitting to set aside a special day to recognize and express appreciation for these individuals who work tirelessly to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of our communities; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we declare August 27, 2025 as Hero Day in the State of Illinois to recognize, honor, and celebrate those whose dedication and service make a profound impact on the lives of others.
