SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gary Lynn Heggy of Golconda, who passed away on February 7, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Gary Heggy was born to Leo and Geraldine Duncan Heggy in Springfield on July 8, 1947; he graduated from Springfield College in Springfield; he married Gloria (Griffin) Elliott on September 10, 1993; and

WHEREAS, Gary Heggy served as a senior public service administrator for the State of Illinois, and he retired after 41 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Gary Heggy represented the Illinois Department of Human Services at the National Association of Reimbursement Officers (NARO) conferences for several years, and he held several offices with that organization, including president; and

WHEREAS, Gary Heggy enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and cards, traveling, and cheering on the San Francisco 49ers football team and the Fighting Illini basketball team; he also took great pleasure in horseback riding to scenic spots, landscaping, and hanging out with his beloved dogs, Bodie, the late Boomer, and the late Cowboy; and

WHEREAS, Gary Heggy is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughter, Carrie (Heggy) Stevenson; his stepsons, Rich Roper and Aaron Elliott; his brother, Bill Heggy; his 10 grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gary Lynn Heggy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary Heggy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
