SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Willie R. Snowden, who passed away on
4December 3, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Willie Snowden was born in El Dorado, Arkansas to
6Paul and Beulah Snowden on January 16, 1941; he attended
7elementary and secondary schools in Arkansas and graduated
8from Booker T. Washington High School in 1958, where he played
9football; he also developed a love for golf as a result of his
10father's training; he caddied for many years and continued to
11develop his skills in golf; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Willie Snowden attended Texas Southern University
13from 1958 to 1960; he later joined the U.S. Army and served for
14two years; after the completion of his service, he graduated
15from AM & N College in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Willie Snowden re-connected with his high school
17sweetheart, Gloria Soldon, in 2000; they both retired in 2004,
18and he moved to Kansas City; they were married in 2005; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Willie Snowden was a member of Morning Star
20Baptist Church; and

1    WHEREAS, Willie Snowden is survived by his wife of 17
2years, Gloria Soldon-Snowden; his son, Roderick Snowden; his
3sister, Irma Sims; his brothers, Paul and Jimmy (Rosie)
4Snowden; his special cousins and sisters, Dorothy Thompson and
5Beverly Snowden Schultz; and his nieces and nephews, Pastor
6Paul Calvin (Carol) Sims, State Sen. Elgie R. (Shivonne) Sims,
7Libue Steven Sims, Paula Snowden Middleton, and Calvin, Kenny,
8Marquita, and Shea; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Willie R. Snowden and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Willie Snowden as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
