SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arnold M. "Arnie" Bochum Jr. of South Elgin, who passed away on July 13, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was born in Elgin to Arnold M. and Amy J. (Darin) Bochum Sr. on April 14, 1934; he was a lifelong resident of Elgin and South Elgin; he was active in scouting and achieved Eagle Scout status, earning 36 merit badges with Troop 10; he graduated from Elgin High School in 1952, where he played baseball, basketball, and percussion in the marching band; he served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement, Arnie Bochum worked for the Village of South Elgin as a police officer and for the Railway Express Agency, Sheldon Manufacturing, the Elgin Sweeper Co., and Roberts Express as an OTR driver; and

WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was a life member of VFW Post 2327 of South Elgin, where he served as a two-term commander in 1991 and 2003 and as a color guard commander for 20 years; in addition, he was a Democratic precinct committeeman for many years; and

WHEREAS, Arnie Bochum was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews, a niece, and several of his furry, four-legged friends; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Arnie Bochum was survived by his three sons, Marvin (Debbie DeMarchi) Bochum, Michael L. Bochum, and Gerald (Casey) Bochum; his six grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his brother, Gary L. Bochum; and his many nieces, nephews, family, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Arnold M. "Arnie" Bochum Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arnie Bochum as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
