SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen R. "Steve" Sample of Rock Island, who passed away on May 6, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sample was born to Hilton and Kathryn Howard Sample in Rock Island on February 7, 1951; he lived his entire life in the Quad Cities; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sample was an active member of The Arc community for most of his life, where he attended day programs, worked in the community, and lived in Arc group homes; he received special care and formed long lasting relationships while at The Arc; he was a resident of a group Arc home at the time of his passing; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sample loved watching old television shows while sitting in his recliner wrapped in a big blanket; he will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and quick wit; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sample was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sample is survived by his cousins, Robert Stump and Brenda Sample Haferty; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stephen R. "Steve" Sample and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Steve Sample as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
