SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/2-129 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State, subject to appropriation, shall implement a statewide program for the creation and distribution of a universal sticker for persons with disabilities to place on their vehicles to notify law enforcement that they are disabled. Provides that the design of the universal sticker shall be at the discretion of the Secretary, except that it must first be approved by the Department of State Police. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Section 2-129 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/2-129 new)
7    Sec. 2-129. Universal sticker for persons with
8disabilities. The Secretary of State, subject to
9appropriation, shall implement a statewide program for the
10creation and distribution of a universal sticker for persons
11with disabilities to place on their vehicles to notify law
12enforcement that they are disabled. The design of the universal
13sticker shall be at the discretion of the Secretary, except
14that it must first be approved by the Department of State
15Police.
 
16    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17becoming law.
