SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gregory B. "Greg" Bott of Plainfield, who passed away on January 7, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Greg Bott was born in Alton to Luriel (Stublefield) and Eugene Bott on March 13, 1956 and grew up in Brighton; he graduated from Piasa High School in 1974 and earned degrees in parks and recreation and education from North Central College in Naperville in 1978; and

WHEREAS, Greg Bott began his career with the Naperville Park District in a maintenance position; in 1981, he joined the Plainfield Park District in the same capacity; he worked his way up to become executive director in 1985 and served until his retirement in May 2013; he always believed in the role that parks and recreation played in the overall well-being of a community; and

WHEREAS, In 2013, the Plainfield Park District renamed River Edge Park as the "Gregory B. Bott Park" in honor of Greg Bott; in 2016, Renwick Community Park was renamed as "Gregory B. Bott Community Park" in honor of his 32 years of service with the Plainfield Park District; and

WHEREAS, Greg Bott was a member of the Plainfield Lions Club and attended Plainfield United Methodist Church and Three Rivers Church; he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman; he enjoyed trap shooting, gardening, playing poker, and spending time at his cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin, which he called his "life's dream"; and

WHEREAS, Greg Bott was the beloved fiance of Misty Bartlett; the loving father of Bryan and Austin Bott; the loving stepfather of Nina and Nathan Bartlett; the devoted son of Luriel (Stublefield) and the late Eugene Bott; the dear brother of Bob (Bev) Bott, Kathy (the late Rocco Goins) Bott, Mary Jane Bott, and the late John (Sheila) Bott; and the fond nephew, cousin, uncle, great-uncle, and friend of many, including Mindy Gerrietts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gregory B. "Greg" Bott, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Greg Bott as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
