SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of J. Gordon Hannagan of Gifford, who passed
4away on October 19, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was born on March 12, 1931, in
6Urbana; he was the son of A.J. and Elizabeth (Gordon) Hannagan;
7he married Janice Fager on August 25, 1955, in Havana; and
 
8    WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was a graduate of Central High
9School in Champaign and the Rupert School of Auctioneering in
10Decatur, Indiana; he also attended the University of Illinois
11for a year; and
 
12    WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan traveled throughout the United
13States and Canada selling American Quarter Horses at public
14auction; during his lifetime, he sold over 80,000 acres of land
15in Champaign County and surrounding area at public auction; he
16and his wife were the owners and operators of Gordyville, USA,
17an equine auction and event center; and
 
18    WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was inducted into the American
19Quarter Horse and Illinois Quarter Horse Halls of Fame; he was
20an avid horse breeder and trader who had an eye for superior
21blood lines and raised numerous champions; and

1    WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was a member of St. Lawrence
2Church, the Illinois Auctioneers Association, the National
3Auctioneers Association, the National Reining Horse
4Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, and the
5National Cutting Horse Association; and
 
6    WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan was preceded in death by his
7parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters; and his granddaughter, Emily
8Rae Hannagan; and
 
9    WHEREAS, J. Gordon Hannagan is survived by his wife,
10Janice; his children, Mary Hannagan, John G. "Bud" (Hillary)
11Hannagan, Patty (Randy) Frerichs, Eddie (Lisa) Hannagan, Jody
12(Jay) Quiram, and Jimmy (Angie) Hannagan; his sister, Margaret
13Wheeler; his grandchildren, Lindsay (Travis) Berlatsky, Kate
14(Travis) Youmans, Jordan Frerichs, Drew Hannagan, Zackary
15Hannagan, Taylor Hannagan, Jay Gordon Quiram, Rowdy and Cooper
16Hannagan, Cale Quiram, and Carson Hannagan; and his
17great-granddaughter, Olivia Berlatsky; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
20his family and friends, the passing of J. Gordon Hannagan; and
21be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of J. Gordon Hannagan as an expression
3of our sympathy.
