SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Virginia Z. Kucera of Arlington Heights, who passed away on February 28, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She was born October 3, 1938, in Chicago, to William S. Sr. and Helen (nee Gawrylak) Zittnan; she attended Providence High School in Chicago, graduated from Loyola University in 1960 with a B.S. in sociology/psychology, and Roosevelt University with a M.A. in gerontology in 1990; and

WHEREAS, She was the director of the Division of Chapter Services for the American Academy of Pediatrics in Elk Grove Village from 1985 to 1996, and an associate executive director for the Clearbrook Center for the Handicapped in Rolling Meadows from 1977 to 1984; she served as an Arlington Heights Village trustee from 1997 until 2009, and as a trustee of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library from 1977 to 1983; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Kucera is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert C. Kucera Sr., whom she married April 8, 1961; her children, Anne Marie Sablock, Robert C. Jr. (Jolanta) Kucera, and Matthew P. (Kristine) Kucera; her grandchildren, Julia and Nicholas Sablock, and Mark, Helena, Nicole, and Amanda Kucera; and her siblings, William Jr. (Maryann) Zittnan, Melanie (Theodore) Porter, and Robert (Christine) Zittnan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Virginia Kucera; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Virginia Kucera as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
