SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Myrtle H. Grant, who passed away on June 24, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Grant was born on February 8, 1921, in Wood River; she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Caroline (Neff) Friederich; she married Gaylen R. Grant on August 20, 1949, at St. Bernard's in Wood River; and

WHEREAS, Prior to having her children, Myrtle Grant was employed at her father's grocery store, "Friederich's", in Wood River; she also worked at Shell Oil and the First National Bank of Alton; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Grant was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church for 60 years; she was also involved with the RCIA Program and the Arms of Love; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Grant enjoyed swimming, biking, the outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Grant was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gaylen; and her brother, Leo Friederich; and

WHEREAS, Myrtle Grant is survived by her daughters, Carol (Michael) Redd and Linda (Chris) Potts; her sons, William (Mary) Grant, Richard (Holly) Grant, and Joseph (Fay) Grant; her 16 grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Leonard (Lucille) Friederich, James (Patricia) Friederich, and Eugene (Carmelita) Friederich; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Myrtle H. Grant; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Myrtle Grant as an expression of our sympathy.
